Halloween Parking Fundraiser

Start:
October 26, 2012
End:
October 28, 2012

Thousands of people flock to Isla Vista each Halloween weekend to enjoy the parade of costumes and festivities.  Parking in the area for the event is extremely limited, and most neighborhoods in the area have traffic problems, parking issues, and loitering. For three years, the Goleta Evening Rotary Club and The Foundation for Girsh Park have run a fundraising parking lot to help alliveate the traffic and parking issues for the neighborhood around the Park.  Girsh Park is only about a ten minute walk into Isla Visa along the lit sidewalk on Storke Rd.  Proceeds from the parking lot go to help fund Girsh Park’s youth programs, as well as Goleta Evening Rotary programs.

The parking lots off of Phelps Road will be open for overnight parking starting at 6pm on October 28 and 29. If there is demand, the lots will be operated on Sunday and Monday as well. The per night fee is $20 per car.  The parking lots will be lit and security guards will be patrolling the lots through each night.  Loitering, consuming drugs/alcohol or sleeping in cars is prohibited.  Each car will be provided a map of the area, contact numbers for taxi’s, as well as a guide on how to be safe in Isla Vista for the weekend.  Taxi’s will also be present along with City of Goleta PD.

If you have any questions about the event please contact Ryan Harrington, Girsh Park’s Executive.  (805) 968-2773 x3 or rharrington@girshpark.org
