Friends of Girsh Park

Join the annual campaign for the support of the Lester A. and Viola S. Girsh Park—one of the most valuable assets on the entire south coast—by becoming a Friend of Girsh Park. We really need your help!

During the first five years of its existence all of the maintenance of the Park was underwritten by the original developer of the Camino Real Marketplace. Just as that start-up period was coming to a close we faced the challenge of losing the 13 acres of ball fields adjacent to the original Park. Thanks to the wonderful generosity of the community, and over 1900 individual gifts to the Fields Forever Campaign, we were successful in doubling the size of the Park and adding to our permanent endowment. Now we must establish steady annual support for the Park’s operations.

The 25-acre Girsh Park, in the heart of our community, is beautiful, spacious, perfectly located, and used from morning to night by young and old for active, healthy, family-oriented outdoor recreation. As the only active recreation park in Goleta, it is used by 100 athletic organizations and teams from Dos Pueblos Little League, AYSO, Santa Barbara Wmen's Soccer League, and Central Coast Soccer League, to the Goleta Valley Dog Club. The Park hosts key annual community celebrations—the July 4 th Fireworks, AYSO Splash Tournament, and the Music in the Park Concert Series.

One statistic says it all: Over 350,000 visitors will enjoy Girsh Park this year.
